Information Centre

The first stage of development at Northshore Hamilton is the Riverside Park, Cafe and Information Centre located at the eastern end near the Royal Queensland Golf Course.

The 2.5 hectare park opens up riverfront land never before accessible to the public. It is a natural gathering place for residents and visitors, with a children’s play area, ripple lawn, barbeque and picnic area and History Walk – commemorating the social, cultural and land use history of the area.

Ultimately, the Riverside Park will link up with a two kilometre riverwalk along the entire Northshore Hamilton frontage, and the Brisbane City Council’s own riverwalk - creating an unbroken scenic promenade along the river between Northshore Hamilton and the city.

The Northshore Riverside Café and Information Centre will be one of the Park’s chief focal points. Inside the Information Centre, people will be able to view a concept model of the Northshore Hamilton site and obtain updates on the development’s residential and commercial aspects. The Centre will also include a meeting room that community-based organisations can use for regular meetings.

A stunning artwork of etched copper, featuring an intricate mangrove motif, is wrapped around the sides and rear of the building. Sustainable design elements are incorporated into the building’s design. These include operable windows and walls to maximise natural ventilation, a large awning to reduce heat, solar hot water and the use of recycled materials in construction.

The Northshore Hamilton Riverside Park was completed in July 2008.
